1984 drama “The Killing Floor” starring Damien Leake, Moses Gunn, Alfre Woodard, Ernest Rayford, Dennis Farina, Ted Levine, Cynthia Baker and Richard Lavin.
During World War I, impoverished African-American father Frank Custer (Damien Leake) leaves his Southern family and heads to Chicago in search of work. After landing a job at one of the city’s many slaughterhouses, he attempts to unionize the often fractious Chicago meatpackers. But the post-war recession only increases the racial tensions already simmering within the slaughterhouses and stockyards and culminates in the Chicago Race Riot of 1919. Based on a true story.
